5 of the best healthy things to do in Surrey this month

Walk the great trails
Go for a stroll along the beautiful North Downs Way, one of the UKs most famous walking routes, which starts in Farnham.

Get romantic at Wisley
In this, the most romantic of months, why not take your loved one for a stroll around these beautiful gardens?

Get your skates on
Inspired by the celebrities on this years Dancing on Ice? Try it out for yourself at the Olympic-sized ice rink at Guildford Spectrum.

Horse around
Surely one of the best ways to see the Surrey countryside, visit the British Horse Society to find one of Surreys numerous riding schools.

Help to survey tawny owls
Join in the British Ornithology Trusts Tawny Owl Survey by taking an evening stroll and submitting your sightings, in order to find out more about these fantastic creatures.

Quick workout for February

Stretching is one of the most important ways to maintain a healthy body. Even if you are sat at a desk all day, you can incorporate these simple stretches to keep your body moving.

>>>>> Inhale deeply with arms down by your side. Lift your shoulders in a shrug as high as you can. Hold and release, exhaling out slowly. Repeat three times.
>>>>> Extend one arm out in front of you. With the other arm, grab the elbow and gently pull it across your chest as far as is comfortable. Feel your upper back and shoulders stretch, hold, release and then switch arms.

Top Surrey tip

Painshill Park in Cobham is one of my favourite places in Surrey for getting out and about. Youll find 158 acres of stunning Georgian grounds complete with a vineyard, follies, grotto and some of the best views in the county. Better still, throughout February 2010, entry is free on Wednesdays.

Kate Staples motivational quote of the month
