Welcome to our new section showcasing all the best things about Surrey style – from the leading boutiques to the latest beauty treatments – with our expert Adele Mitchell...
Each month, we’ll be talking to a stylish Surrey lady to find out what she’s wearing. For the first instalment, we meet Nancy Hamilton, ladies wear buyer at the Gerrards boutique in Reigate High Street...
“My jumper is by Samsoe & Samsoe and is so cosy for the winter. With its splash of neon, it’s also an edgy take on the Nordic knit trend.”
“The coat is by Samsoe & Samsoe too. It is super-cosy and I love the masculine shape.”
“I’ve had these Topshop faux leather skinnies for ages. I love teaming them with a chunky knit and ankle boots for day, or dressing them up when I go out.”
“My faithful ‘Jalouse’ boots by Ash go with everything; I wear them to death.”
“My friend gave me this lovely statement necklace from Accessorize. I usually wear delicate jewellery so it’s a nice change for me.”
“I love wearing a splash of red lipstick. My favourite is the one I’m wearing here from Kate Moss’ range for Rimmel.”

Surrey in the spotlight
There’s been some spectacular catwalk action – and charity fund-raising too – featuring Surrey fashion and beauty in recent weeks...
Renowned avant garde hairdresser Robert Masciave and his creative team from Metropolis in Kingston recently took part in The Alternative Hair Show at London’s Royal Albert Hall. The event sees the biggest names in hairdressing put together a jaw-dropping show. Robert drew inspiration from a fusion of cultures, Elizabethan era clothes, and hair styled with bird feathers and reconstructed wings. His vision was to represent “transition from something dark into something beautiful and positive”. The show raised over £180,000 in support of leukaemia and lymphoma research.

Meanwhile, over at Painshill Park in Cobham, some of Surrey’s best fashion stores, including O’Keefe, Club Esher and Crola & Crola, took to the catwalk at the Fashion 4 Good fashion show and awards event. The evening raised almost £50K for Surrey-based charities including Harrison’s Fund, Cobham Food Bank, Oasis Children’s Centre and Your Sanctuary. The winners of the Fashion 4 Good Fashion Awards – chosen by Louise Redknapp and Emma Thatcher from fashion blog Louandem.com – were also announced on the night.

At the age of just 24, Olivia Williams is certainly ‘one to watch’ for 2014!
Olivia designs luxury sheepskin accessories and bespoke knitwear under her own label, 88&Half, based in the Surrey Hills where she grew up and still lives.
A graduate from Nottingham Trent’s fashion knitwear course, Olivia was selected to show in the prestigious Graduate Fashion Week.
Having worked for a knitwear label in New York, she returned to Surrey to develop her own designs.
She’s enjoyed sell-out sales at pre-Christmas fashion fairs in Surrey, Goodwood, Chelsea and Olympia, sells online and is stocked at Suzanne in Cobham and Bakehouse in Dorking.
Olivia wore some of her collection for our photo shoot: “These stretch leather trousers have been really popular, as well as the sheepskin snoods and cute knitted hats with sheepskin pompoms,” she tells us. “And looking ahead to this spring, I’m introducing some gorgeous silk knit tube dresses, which I’m really excited about.”

Hangover skin SOS!
Partied a little too hard over the festive period? Here, Esher’s skin care expert Jill Zander offers some TLC…
• Help to de-puff your eyes by propping yourself up with a couple of extra pillows at bedtime. Sleeping slightly elevated helps to drain fluid away from the face.
• Super-charge your body first thing with a cold-hot-cold shower (it’s worth the pain!) combined with exfoliation using a mitt or body scrub.
• Revive your skin with a facial massage: applying moisturiser in firm circular movements will help stimulate blood flow and give your skin a rosy glow.
• Keep a water mist spray in your bag to help keep your skin hydrated – also useful for a mid-afternoon pep-up if a slump kicks in!
• Treat yourself to a Skin Detox HydraFacial, which includes exfoliation, glycolic rejuvenation and lymphatic drainage for optimum skin health (from £115)
