When we asked you to nominate your favourite fashion addresses, we were inundated with great recommendations. Here’s what a few of you had to say…
Occupation: Personal assistant
I would like to nominate the Zebra Boutique in Walton-on-Thames. Originally my hairdresser recommended it – I am not the average size and she suggested I visit this boutique as it has clothes to fit all sizes. My first visit was one of the most pleasant – they have exceedingly helpful and friendly staff, without being over-the-top; clothes fitting that I wouldn’t normally have tried; a vast range of styles and colours; and it’s great value too (i.e. something looks expensive but isn’t). It was a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. I have been back several times since and each time is at least as good as the previous, if not better. Highly recommended.
Occupation: Careers consultant
It’s really important for me to have a local boutique that I can go to for casual, smart and evening wear. Bakehouse in Dorking fits the bill, as I can try on an eclectic mix of styles in a really comfortable, friendly environment and get expert help and style advice. Bakehouse opened in 2004 situated firstly in West Street, then in the more prominent position at Pump Corner in 2009, and year-on-year, it has succeeded in fulfilling the needs of its shoppers’ fashion demands. This season, gorgeous labels include Farhi, Marilyn Moore and Part Two. It’s a great boutique for jeans and I’ve just recently bought a fabulous pair by Citizens of Humanity. They also sell gorgeous footwear. For all of these reasons, I would highly recommend a visit.
Hometown: Worcester Park
I would like to nominate the House of Fraser store in Epsom. I love all the vintage, contemporary, exciting and new brands to choose from, and it always has all of my fashion must-haves for the season ahead – so colourful, and packed with new styles. In fact, I found a great outfit for my nephew’s wedding there! They also have such helpful staff plus plenty of wonderful offers on the perfume counter, the chance to have a mini-makeover, along with free goodie bags on special purchases! There are also shoes/sandals galore! My own favourite brand is Carvella. I’d say it’s very hard to better this department store.
Occupation: Company director
There are two shops that I would like to sing the praises of here in Surrey. First of all, there’s Suzanne in Cobham, where you’ll find a great selection of women’s clothes, meaning that you don’t have to worry about travelling into London. They have smart and casual wear alike, and the staff there are always so friendly and helpful. Then, staying in Cobham, there’s also Questa, which is another great, must-visit shop for women’s smart/casual clothes. Once again, the staff are really friendly in their shop too. So, if you happen to be paying a visit to Cobham for any reason, both of these boutiques come highly recommended and are certainly well worth a trip.
I like nothing more than popping in to my local vintage shop, Shrewd in Dorking, and finding something unique and stylish from fabulous fifties swing dresses to slinky silk tea dresses. I also love mixing up old and new styles, so I will put a classic vintage tweed jacket with a pair of jeans or an evening dress. I adore all the vintage jewellery and handbags as well, so any outfit I match them with looks instantly original and personal to me. My boyfriend also finds some great stuff there, particularly knits and jackets. The shop is so atmospheric, and filled with a truly eclectic mix. It really feels like stepping back in time and allows your imagination to dream up a whole new look.
