Earlier this year the Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing Centre in Farnham unveiled the result of their 1.1m refurbishment; the new centre is the first of its kind in the UK to offer fully bespoke health and fitness programmes to all members.
The site on Weybourne Road has become a flagship for Nuffield Health in their quest to provide members with a fully integrated service to identify risk, treat illness and prevent the onset of disease.
Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing centres are a new concept in integrated health, fitness and wellbeing. The centres provide a joined-up approach to managing your health & fitness by offering a combination of fitness facilities and highly qualified health care professionals in one place.
We recognise that optimal health and wellbeing cannot be achieved with only one healthcare discipline, so we have created an environment where our health and fitness professionals can work together seamlessly to act as advocates for your long-term health, says general manager, James Chapman.
At Nuffield Health, the most important thing to us is your health, so all members will benefit from a full lifestyle assessment with a physiologist: to identify each individuals needs, risks and goals. From this, a fully personalised health and fitness programme is created.
A Nuffield Health Lifestyle Health Assessment is lead by a health and wellbeing physiologist and will focus on identifying potential risk factors for future poor health and areas to optimise wellbeing. This includes elevated cholesterol, elevated blood pressure, impaired blood sugar regulation, body composition, physiological resilience-to-stress, general dietary habits and posture. Your physiologist will develop a detailed and personalised lifestyle programme that will be achievable, realistic and appropriate to you and your goals.
Physiologists are healthcare professionals trained to understand how modern lifestyle factors, such as exercise, nutrition, sleep and stress, affect your health and wellbeing. They use their knowledge to guide you towards lifestyle changes that will help you achieve specific health goals, whether that means improving an existing medical condition, preventing a chronic illness from developing or changing the way you look and feel on a daily basis.
Members of the newly-refurbished, adult-only centre, benefit from continued support from the Nuffield Health team, who recognise that we all need a bit of help sometimes when it comes to keeping on track with our health and fitness goals.
