We hear a lot about skin rejuvenation and specifically regenerative and restorative skin treatments, such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels, to reduce wrinkles, pigment and scarring, but can a facelift also be non-invasive?

Surrey-based aesthetics expert and medical doctor, Dr Kim Prescott discusses non-surgical facelifts and highlights the benefits of the Pyramid MD technique.

Q: What is a Pyramid FaceLift?

A non-surgical facelift, purported to have similar results to a surgical facelift if done properly, with three different treatments in a single session. The first is a combination of radiofrequency, skin tightening and muscle toning; the second is radio frequency microneedling, for skin tightening and volumising. The final step is a microblative skin surfacing treatment for fine lines, wrinkles, pigment and acne scarring; this brings smoothness and reduces pore size.

Q: Does this non-surgical treatment work?

There are three treatment sessions, two to three weeks apart, but patients see results immediately. It’s popularity also lies in the fact it costs around £1,000 in total and results in minimal redness – and in some cases none at all.

Q: How long does it last?

The results are permanent, but you obviously continue to age. If you do the full course, you should notice the effects for somewhere between 12 and 18 months. Other treatments can be brought in to further improve effects: I like to offer a programme which also includes skin products and dietary changes.

What do patients say?

Natalie Du Toit:

I wanted to find out more about a non-invasive facelift because the lines on my forehead were becoming prominent and my laughter lines had deepened and were aging my face. I have had my first session with Dr Kim Prescott and found it quite relaxing. My skin felt tingly and alive. There was slight redness for an hour or two after the treatment but no swelling at all. I am delighted with the results. Even after just one treatment my forehead looks so smooth and my skin feels soft and silky. I can already see an improvement in the lines under my eyes and on my cheeks. My skin feels 10 years younger and it has a lovely healthy glow which I have missed!

I had three basal cells removed from my face a few years ago: one was quite big and left me with a nasty, keloid scar that I was very self-conscious about. Dr Kim Prescott recommended the Pyramid FaceLift. Afterwards, it did feel like sunburn, but Kim applied a soothing mask and this stopped very quickly. It caused redness, but no swelling, and by the next day this had almost totally subsided. I am really thrilled with the results! The biggest improvement was to my worst scar on my right cheek. It’s almost entirely flat now, no longer painful to touch and considerably less pink and noticeable than it was.
