I absolutely love weekends; its the only days I get to enjoy being home and discovering all that my fantastic surroundings have to offer. Being fairly new to Surrey, Im still constantly finding amazing places, shops, restaurants and people. I love the sense of community and how warm and inviting the place feels.
On Friday evenings, I start to relax and unwind after a day of filming. I usually like to eat out as Im often too tired to cook, but I also enjoy a bit of excitement and atmosphere. There is the most perfect tapas restaurant for this just a few minutes away from my home in Weybridge called El Meson de Los Hermanos. The food is flavourful; the atmosphere warm, friendly, relaxed with a great sense of fun; and Ive never been there without leaving with a smile on my face all of which sets me up perfectly for the weekend.
Guildfords cobbled streets
Saturday is the day I like to shop, and catch up on things I dont get to do during the week. Guildfords a great place for shopping; a friend told me to visit there only recently, and now I cant stay away. I love the mix of old, new, boutique and brand stores. It also has everything in a beautiful setting, and even if I dont shop, I love walking around in the cobbled streets; a great place for a day out.
Now, if Im honest, Im not a big cook! In fact, I hardly ever do it, so Ill eat out most of the weekend. Saturday night for me wouldnt be the same without going to The Good Earth in Esher; you havent had the best until youve been there! I wasnt the biggest fan of Chinese food until my visit, but now I cant get enough. Its a great setting: very calm, relaxed and a place to really savour the ambience, people and food. One personal recommendation: try the shredded smoked chicken it tastes like bacon! Delicious.
Movies are another one of my loves and eating out at The Good Earth means I can easily pop next door to the Odeon cinema in Esher, which is a real treat. I try to get there at least once a month plus its always an excuse to indulge and satisfy my sweet tooth at their brilliant Pick n Mix!
A work-out in Weybridge
On Sunday, I relax a little more. I like to keep fit so Ill get a session in at The Weybridge Health Club at some point over the weekend, most likely a Sunday while the Grand Prix is on, so I have great viewing while I work out. Also, near my flat is the cricket green. Im a fan of cricket but especially watching the local teams, and will make an effort to wander out and watch an hour of play. Its so perfect; you forget everything while sitting down watching the match.
When I get to Sunday, I know the chaos is about to begin once again, so Ill make sure the flat is tidied, and that Ive packed, and then Ill head over to my local Sainsburys and Blockbuster, where I grab something easy to eat, another good latest release, then settle for a quiet night in... before the madness starts all over again.
