From creative young fundraisers to children who have shown great bravery to entrepreneurial whiz-kids, an awards scheme celebrating the achievements of our county's young people is back for a fourth year and there's still time to enter.

Surrey Young Superstars is open to anyone between the ages of five and 19 who lives in the county, with a wide range of categories to choose from (see full list below) and entry is free.

What is more, this year’s awards, which will be held at the Guildford Harbour Hotel on Sunday May 8, will be presented by The Queen’s newly-appointed official representative in the county, the Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey, Michael More-Molyneux.

“I am delighted to be supporting Surrey Young Superstars this year,” says Michael, whose family has owned Loseley Park, near Guildford, for more than 500 years. “It is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate young people, recognise and reward their achievements and showcase the incredible contributions they make to our communities across the county.”

The awards are organised by the independent travel agent Haslemere Travel and the county’s largest voluntary youth organisation, Surrey Youth Focus, and have been supported by Surrey Life magazine since their inception.

“I’m so proud of the many stories that these awards have told since we founded them in 2012, and I look forward to hearing more inspiring tales this year,” says owner of Haslemere Travel and awards founder, Gemma Antrobus.

“There’s a lot of hard work that goes on behind the scenes, but these awards couldn’t happen without the generous sponsorship and support of Savills Guildford and Guildford Harbour Hotel. This year, we will also seek to raise awareness of a worthy local charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY).”

The 2016 award categories are: Caring Superstar; Individual Fund-raising Superstar (5-12 years); Individual Fund-raising Superstar (13-19 years); Volunteering Superstar (individual); Volunteering Superstar (Group); Community Superstar and Courageous Superstar.

• Nomination forms for Surrey Young Superstars can be found online at haslemeretravel.co.uk or surrey youthfocus.org.uk. The deadline for entries is Friday April 15 at 5pm.
