When Im not working, weekends definitely start on a Friday morning for me, so I really let my hair down and enjoy chilling out and making the most of the wonderful Surrey countryside.
I live in the beautiful area of Chaldon and there are many walks from my doorstep. The two rescue dogs I own, Paddy and Lacey, keep me very busy during my time off. One of my absolute favourite places to take them has to be Happy Valley a stunning area where you can walk for hours on end. They love it and were always knackered and covered in mud by the time we get home!
Other favourite walks from my house include heading to the church in Chaldon, which is one of the oldest in the area dating back to the late 10th-century. There is such a wonderful calm about the place.
When it gets to the evening, I like nothing more than enjoying a glass of wine and a nice dinner with friends or a good DVD. I have so many DVDs, theres always something to watch!
On Saturday, I try and go to my local gym for a workout a great way to start the day. I normally walk to the gym in Caterham and try to stay for at least an hour. Once home, its time to take the dogs out again for a couple of hours Paddy is a lurcher and only five months old, so his energy levels are incredible.
Saturday is also my shopping day, whether its Waitrose in Caterham or heading to the local shopping centre for some clothes. For big shops, I usually go to Redhill, Reigate, Croydon or, if I have time to go further, then Ill head to Wokings Peacocks Centre. I was in panto at the New Victoria Theatre last year and literally went shopping every day it was deadly!
Down my local
I like to hit my local pubs in the evening. The nearest one to us is The Fox in Coulsdon; they do fairly good pub food and the staff are always really welcoming. Theres a fantastic pub in Outwood called The Bell, which has an old hanging tree in the garden where they used to hang witches. The food is amazing: my favourite sort of pub grub i.e. great home cooked food and you certainly dont go home hungry as the portions are huge the fish and chips is one of my favourites. Another good pub is The Red Lion in Bletchingley. Again, the food is great and they also have entertainment on Saturday night.
Sunday is definitely my day to relax and catch up with friends and family. I like to take my dogs to Dorking on Sunday and walk along the River Mole; a beautiful walk and, as Lacey loves to swim, its a perfect place to go. Dorking is a great place to go for a coffee or lunch as well.
Sunday is also roast dinner day and mum cooks the best roast ever for all the family. By the time Sunday evening comes, Im more than ready for the busy week ahead of me.
