X Factor supremo Simon Cowell and a host of celebrities, including Abbey Clancy, Hugo Taylor and Luisa Zissman, helped families supported by children’s hospice Shooting Star Chase enjoy an exclusive Easter Tea at The Dorchester in London on Tuesday April 1.

The event, which hopes to raise £40,000 to support families with babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, included a special performance from X Factor winner Sam Bailey.

“It has been a pleasure to host our third Easter Tea in aid of Shooting Star Chase,” said Simon Cowell, who was presented with a canvas painted by the children for his new baby and given an Easter egg named Eric after his son.

“It is always great to spend time with the families and seeing them enjoying themselves. Children’s hospices are the most amazing places and the staff are incredibly devoted to making them so happy and friendly places for all the children and families who need to use them.”

The Friendlies, a family of fingerprint characters that launched the charity’s new brand in February, also took centre stage as guests queued to have their photo taken with the colourful characters.

“Simon has once again shown what a wonderful ambassador he is for Shooting Star Chase,” says Karen Sugarman, director of fundraising at the charity which has children’s hospices in Guildford and Hampton.

“Having families, friends, patrons and supporters here makes this event so special – it feels like a family wedding but at Easter. We are so grateful to the Dorchester and all of our guests who have given their time to support our work.”
