In keeping with Pavlovs dogs, Friday sees me reaching for a corkscrew and heaving a big sigh of relief that the weekend is finally here! Bizarre, really, given that I dont generally have a regular Monday to Friday schedule!

Being a huge music fan, I love to listen live, so I often meet with friends at the Thyme at the Tavern in Chertsey to watch an acoustic set or sometimes a full band on a Friday night. You just cant beat live music.

Most Saturdays during the summer months are taken up by various outside events with the radio. Surrey has so many country shows, festivals and fetes. I never imagined I would have to pore over the ferret racing track, knee-deep in mud, or interview ladies who make jewellery out of bottles of wine consumed (you just couldnt make that up)! Its certainly varied!

But if for any reason I am not playing Umbrella by Rihanna for the eleventh time at the request of an eight-year-old, I might scoot off for a bit of retail therapy.

Sometimes, I go to Guildford. I love to hang out at Bens Records in Tunsgate. Its a treasure trove of goodies and, if like me, you enjoy music, then its a must!

Afterwards, as a treat, I will often pop into Cote Bistro in Castle Street. The food is delicious and the staff are so friendly. Sadly, in todays world, thats a rarity!

Its show time!
Saturday night its show time. I spin the tracks on my jazz and latin show from 10pm and then afterwards go home for a nightcap.

Apart from chilling with the papers and more tea than the Sally Army gives out during a Christmas concert, I often walk round Virginia Water on Sunday morning. Its not just the wildlife that warrants special attention its definitely a people watching place!

I like to cook so I make sure the roast potatoes go in early and always in goose fat!

Ironing is somehow made bearable by tuning into some great jazz on Sunday afternoons followed by the 70s/80s show by fellow broadcaster and dear friend, Jon Andrews. Jon and I share something in common; we both make radio sound like a night out at Eurovision crossed with a family party where your great Auntie has just put a request in for Viva Espaa and a chilled Baby Cham! Cheesy? Without doubt! Fun? Always!

Occasionally, I pop down to the Rising Sun in Hampton Hill. Its a one-stop entertainment shop! Owners Shaun and Neil organise everything from quiz nights to special Eurovision parties, but Sunday night its movie night; a fab concept for a friendly little pub. They show the latest Blu-ray films whilst you tuck into cheesy nachos its like being in your own front room but with no control over the remote. Besides, when was the last time you watched a movie in public with a glass of Cab Sav in your hand (shhhh, that would be showing your age)!
