Based just outside Reigate, Littleton Manor Equestrian boasts top training facilities suitable for the amateur or professional rider. Formed in 2004, owner KATE LUKAS reveals their hopes for the business, and its sister company Kate Lukas Events, in 2010

What are your hopes for your business in 2010?
We hope that 2010 will see Littleton Manor Equestrian (LMEQ) host an increasing number of clinics with top international trainers and be able to assist more riders in the south east with their training.

What plans do you have to develop your business in 2010?
We have plans to hold an open day at the farm to showcase who we are and what we offer. This will also give Kate Lukas Eventing, which is part of the LMEQ stable, as it were, the chance to show off the options available for owning your own event horses. This is with the hope that the syndicates part of KLE can develop and involve more people in the area, while showing that there is an affordable way to be involved with all the perks of owning an event horse.

What sets your business apart from your competitors?
LMEQ would like to think we are set apart from our competitors by our attention to detail and the quality and maintenance of all our facilities. We take pride in looking after our customers, whether they are an amateur or a professional. Most importantly, for training, we have all the required facilities in one place so people can mix and match to what they need.I feel that both LMEQ and KLE are set apart by the businesslike and holistic approach that is taken towards every aspect of the horses training and welfare.Owners view the yard as somewhere to keep their horses but also as a place to relax away from work. Both of our businesses are aware that being good at horses and business in the past has not been regarded as the the norm. We are working hard to break the mould!

Who are your customers?
Our customers at the farm range from Olympic medalists to pleasure riders and there are the facilities to cater for all abilities. Most of my clients are predominantly London-based professionals who need that extra help and support with their varying ambitions, that we can tailor make packages towards.

How do you see 2010 developing?
2010 will be an exciting year for LMEQ focusing on finding and working with a team to train at the centre for the 2012 Olympics while my own development will focus around competing and developing the current string of horses.

What is your business mantra?
The business mantra for both businesses would be to combine being ultimate professionals with being friendly and accommodating.

What is best about doing business in Surrey?
What is great about doing business in Surrey is the mixture of people that come through our gates. From world champions to Pony Club children, it is satisfying to be able to support all these peoples training and ambitions. I really enjoy being able to offer people based in and around London a service that gives them some down time and to a professional level.
