Former world footballer of the year Zinedine Zidane attended a World Cup-style football tournament for promising young stars in Guildford last week.
Following two days at Surrey Sports Park, the World Cup winning midfielder joined 25,000 spectators at Wembley Stadium to watch on as France lifted the Danone Nations Cup 2013 trophy.
Japan’s Hiro Satho was named player of the tournament, while England’s Bobby Duncan secured the top scorer accolade.
Surrey Sports Park hosted the group and initial knockout stages last Thursday and Friday, as over 600 10-12 year olds represented their nations following months of selection tournaments involving over 2.5 million children and more than 10,000 schools worldwide.
