Wokings most famous son, Paul Weller returned to perform in the town of his birth for the first time in more than 30 years last night, at a concert specially held to raise funds for Woking and Sam Beare Hospices.

The sell out gig at Woking Leisure Centre came about when a friend of Weller, who released the critically acclaimed WakeUp the Nation earlier this year, told him about the financial difficulties currently being experienced by the charity.

As well as raising funds via ticket sales, an auction of two of the much sought after passes raised 9,050. In total, around 60,000 was raised for the charity.
