While 7,000 people enjoyed the opportunity to walk through the newly finished Hindhead Tunnel on Saturday May 14, one local girl was taking on an extraordinary challenge.

Arianne Blackley, nine, who has Angelman Syndrome and recently stopped walking independently, took on the 1.2 mile tunnel to raise money for local childrens charity, Disability Challengers, whose play schemes Arianne attends in Farnham.

Arianne is an incredibly loving child and adores people, but because of her condition taking care of her is a full time job, says her mother, Fiona.

She cant dress or feed herself, so someone needs to be there with her at all times. Disability Challengers offers that kind of support. Because of cuts, Disability Challengers is suffering and we wanted to try and give them something back.

At times, the walk proved to be a struggle for Arianne, taking just over an hour, but the crowds of people and atmosphere kept her going on her way to raising over 24,000.
