I started Cobhammums.com in November 2009 to help mums new to the area and have quickly realised that we can do more to support families locally, says Kat Vitou, the event organiser.
We are asking every local resident to search through their wardrobe and find something that will help us raise funds for charities which are close to our hearts and homes.
Although Cobham and the Elmbridge borough have been voted among the best places to live in the UK, the influential Hidden Surrey report by the Community Foundation for Surrey has shown there are pockets of real need in even the most affluent of boroughs.
The catwalk event will be followed by The Fashion Jumble at Parkside School, Stoke d'Abernon, on Saturday October 1. Here, the remainder of the designer items will be sold from 10am to3pm, enabling local fashion savvy residents to snap up a bargain.
All proceeds fromthe two dayswill go to the Fashion for Good Fund, which will support disadvantaged families and children.
We have been hugely impressed with the enthusiasm, skills and energy of the Fashion for Good team and are delighted that they are establishing a fund with us to support local families in need, says Wendy Varcoe, executive director of the Community Foundation.
