Since lockdown began, Joe has been entertaining households across the globe with his uplifting morning PE lessons. Here he answers a few quick fire questions...
What’s your favourite café? “No.1a Duke Street… they do a nice little outdoor breakfast.”
Preferred pub? “The Marlborough, at the top of Richmond Hill, is lovely.”
Favourite restaurant? “The Rock & Rose in Richmond.”
Food market? “I LOVE the Christmas market in Kingston, with all the lovely hot chocolate and sausages…”
Favourite place to relax? “I usually go to Soho farmhouse, but was recently invited to Beaverbrook in Leatherhead and was blown away... the food and restaurant are amazing! It’s a really lovely secret hideaway, right in the middle of the countryside… you’d never know it was there!”
What would your perfect day in Surrey entail? “I’d jump on my bike in the morning ride up to Box Hill for a couple of climbs followed by a coffee at the top. Then home to pick up my wife and kids for a bit of lunch somewhere like No 1a Duke Street.
“We’d then sit on Richmond Green with an ice cream from Gelateria Danieli, before walking along the river up to Richmond Park, where we’d walk and picnic in the park before making our way home. In the evening, we’d just chill out and get an early night, I reckon!”
With kids currently his core audience, Joe also answered some questions from our writer’s son, Harry, and his friends’ Luke, Max, Phoebe, Zach, Gracie and JJ.
Favourite subject/sports at school? “PE. I loved doing sports; football, cross-country and basketball.
Favourite sports now? “To watch, football. To take part in, cycling. I enjoy bike rides through Richmond Park and Box Hill.
Favourite exercise? “Pull-ups and press-ups.”
Can you actually play the guitar on the wall of your living room? “I’m learning! I’ve got two; a Fender Stratocaster and Fender Telecaster. My advice to you is do not stop playing… Keep learning because when you get to 16, 17 or 18, and you can shred it on the guitar, you’re just gonna be the coolest dude!”
