The much-loved performer, Bernard Cribbins has pledged his support to the Community Foundation for Surreys Surviving Winter 2012 appeal, which aims to raise money for older people at risk in the county this winter.
The Community Foundation for Surrey is raising funds for community and voluntary groups that are supporting older people in the county to reduce isolation and vulnerability.
I am 100% behind the campaign and delighted to be supporting it, says Bernard Cribbins. I am going to donate my winter fuel allowance to support others in Surrey that need additional help during the winter. I encourage others who dont need their allowance to do the same.
People who can afford to, are being asked to donate their Winter Fuel allowance from the government to support older and vulnerable people in Surrey.
Donations are also welcome from others who do not receive the Winter Fuel allowance wishing to support the campaign. All donations will go towards supporting older people in need in Surrey.
In Surrey alone, last winter 554 deaths were directly attributable to the weather, according to the Surrey Health Profile 2012, the majority of them being older people.
