Surrey's Rock Choir launched their record-breaking album into the charts on Sunday night. The group, which was founded in Farnham, in 2005, has become a national phenomenon, signing a record deal with Universal along the way
Surrey's Rock Choir launched their first album into the charts on Sunday night, making them thelargest music act to ever release a record.
The group, which was founded in Farnham, in 2005, has become a national phenomenon, signing a record deal with Universal's Decca Recordsalong the way.
Some 1,000 members of Chobham, Guildford, Godalming, Farnham, Dorkingand Esher Rock Choirs, who took part in the recording ofRock Choir Vol 1last year at Cranleigh School,celebratedwith other Rock Choir members from around the country at a hugealbum launch at the Hammersmith Apollo.
The day after the album launch, Vol 1 went to number one in the Amazon pre-order hot future releases chart and thennumber one on the Amazon best sellers chart, ahead of Scissor Sisters, Kylie and Eminem.
Rock Choir is the largest pop act ever to be signed to a music label and you can see them live on the main stage at this year's GuilFest, on Saturday July 17 and Sunday July 18.
