Situated on Godalming’s historic High Street, a grade II listed Tudor building has been sympathetically restored to create an exciting and unusual space for art and craft.

Artists Caroline Lingwood and Margaret Samuel, who have been organising exhibitions for 14 years, are opening the new Lingwood Samuel gallery at 12 Church Street.

Artists and makers are selected for each exhibition to complement each other’s work, and pieces vary from the beautiful to the beguiling, from tiny ceramics and mixed media work to lifesize sculpture.

Caroline and Margaret will also have a small studio area where they can work and hold occasional workshops.

For the opening exhibition, which forms part of Surrey Artists Open Studios, around twenty artists will be taking part, encompassing sculpture, painting, textiles, glass, ceramics and jewellery.

• Lingwood Samuel, Godalming opens Tuesdays to Saturdays, 10am to 5pm. More @
