Stuart Mansfield named BIPP Photographer of the Year 2017

Lovelight Photography Studio Director, Stuart Mansfield (ABIPP), has achieved the title of BIPP Photographer of the Year 2017.

This year’s Professional Photography Awards were held at the The Ivy Soho Brasserie, London, on Wednesday 1 March 2017 where Stuart Mansfield was announced as the BIPP Photographer of the Year 2017 for his portfolio ‘Growing Up Part 2’, for which he also received a Gold Award in the Portraiture Category.

Stuart said: “I was shocked and amazed to receive my gold award. Even more so to be awarded photographer of the year. It is a great feeling to gain this level of recognition for my work from the BIPP.”

Along with Stuart’s achievements this year, Lovelight’s team of photographers have all recently been certified by BIPP, making Lovelight one of the few studios where each photographer has qualified licentiate (LBIPP) of the British Institute of Professional Photography.

About Stuart

Stuart is an award-winning portrait photographer, with over 20 years’ experience, and is a qualified member of the BIPP. He fell in love with photography whilst studying art and design at school. Drawn to photography by the combination of creativity and technical skill. Stuart then went on to complete a BA hons degree in Photography at the University of Creative Arts in Farnham. During his degree, he focused on documentary portraiture photography.

After graduating in 1998, with a 1st class honours degree, Stuart’s images were featured in the John Kobal Portrait Prize. He was also runner up in the Observer Hodge Award in 1999. From 2000 to 2013 Stuart had a successful career with one of the leading portrait companies in the UK. He gained a huge amount of experience photographing with people of all ages and developing his business skills.

Along with his wife Cathy, Stuart established Lovelight Photography in 2013. Lovelight is an independent family run business passionate about producing the highest quality photography. With over 50 years combined experience in portrait photography, the team is determined to deliver a fun and personal service, bespoke to client’s needs. Specialising in portraiture, they have a wealth of experience working with children through to corporate, fashion and editorial headshot/portfolio images.

Earlier in 2016, Lovelight launched the commercial side of their business, Lovelight Commercial, and it’s been a whirlwind of adventure working with the likes of Holiday Inn, Aubeterre Blue, Volvo, Powertrac Electrical and recently being selected as a preferred supplier to Mercedes Benz Retail Group. Based near Guildford, Surrey, the studio is in a lovely converted barn, but they are also happy to work on location.
