Investec Derby Festival
Up to 125,000 flock to Epsom Downs for this historic and quintessentially English event, with Ladies’ Day taking place on the Friday and Derby Day on the Saturday. If you attend, keep an eye out for this year’s official ambassadors, which include champion jockey Frankie Dettori, Olympic gold medallist Denise Lewis and two-star Michelin chef Michel Roux Jnr. Surrey Artists’ Open Studios
Hit the road and discover over 300 Surrey artists showcasing their art around the county this summer. Look out for the orange signs, and meet the artists in their own environment. Find out more in June’s Surrey Life magazine.

The Wind in the Willows

Wellers at Wisley
Wellers Auctioneers will be offering a fine array of 20th century, modern and contemporary sculpture sourced specifically for Wisley this summer. Viewings will take place until Saturday June 13 during normal garden opening times and the auction will be conducted from the Hilltop Events Centre at Wisley. Normal admission charges apply.

Double Twelve Motorsport Festival
Held on the weekend closest to the original opening date of the Brooklands race track, the Double Twelve Motorsport Festival is organised in association with the Vintage Sports-Car Club. As well as the main competitions, the Test Hill Challenge will also take place on the Saturday – this involves everything from bicycles and motorcycles to giant pre-war racing cars tackling the punishing 352ft concrete slope.

Monday June 15
Magna Carta 800
Three days of celebrations, running from Saturday June 13 to Monday June 15, will culminate in The Queen paying a visit to Runnymede for a special commemoration event, 800 years to the day since King John sealed the Magna Carta there.

The Supercar Event
Now in its ninth year, this weekend supercar extravaganza offers something for the motoring fanatics as well as raising funds for The Children’s Trust. Where else can you be driven round a track in some of the world’s greatest supercars – and help an amazing cause?

International Garden Photographer of the Year Exhibition
A collection of winning images from the prestigious International Garden Photographer of the Year competition comes to Guildford House this summer. Coverwood Lakes Opera

Tuesday June 30 to Monday July 27
Surrey Sculpture Society at Loseley
The showing season for Surrey Sculpture Society starts at the historic Loseley Park, near Guildford, where work will be displayed among the walled gardens. From there, they head to the Riverhouse Gallery, Walton-on-Thames, in July/August; RHS Garden Wisley in August/September; and Richmond’s Landmark Arts Centre in October/November.
