One of the most popular walks for Reigatians is up to the Skimmington Castle on Bonnys Road. The quaint pub is found via a stroll across Reigate Heath. If you drive, watch out for golf balls on the approach, as the road crosses Reigate Heath Golf Club.

Down under
The Tunnel Road caves beneath the Castle Grounds have been home to the local gun club but also open to the public along with their more historic neighbour, the Barons Cave several times a year. At various points, they have been used as sand mines, explosive stores and air raid shelters.

A first for books...
The Cranston Library, founded in 1701, is situated above the vestry in St Marys church. It was the first public lending library in England. Another piece of trivia has it that Chart Lane narrows so dramatically around the churchs cemetery because workers were wary of digging up the plague graves.

Planet earth
The tiny museum run by the Holmesdale Natural History Club opens on selected days and is filled with a fascinating array of objects .

Actor Shane Richie has regularly performed in pubs in the town with his band.

Getting there...
