Did you know?


Hidden treasures
Explore a little further afield from Redhill town centre and you come across pubs like the Joshua Tree, the White Lion, the Plough and the newly refurbished Home Cottage, which are all worth a visit.


Go outside...
Earlswood Common and its golf course is a popular walking location while Redhill Common offers panoramic views to Gatwick Airport. Then, theres The Moors (pictured), which offers a great stroll to Nutfield and Gatton Park and its Capability Brown landscaped gardens on the way to Merstham.


Those magnificent men
Redhill boasts its own aerodrome just a couple of miles south of the town. Used as an alternative airport to Croydon by Imperial Airways in the 1930s, it was an RAF station in World War Two. Now its mainly used for private civilian use and flight training.


A big bang...
Swedish chemist Alfred Nobel (he of the famed annual prize) demonstrated his new explosive, dynamite, for the first time in 1867 at a quarry in Redhill. A development in the centre of town is named after the event.

... the Harlequin Theatre and Belfry shopping centre, which together dominate the heart of the town with their imposing architecture. There are plans afoot that will see the theatres giant canopy removed, the Sainsburys almost triple in size, a new hotel and more.

The Plough (01737 766686) is a quintessential English pub.
