To celebrate being awarded the freedom of the borough, the Princess of Wales's Royal Regiment paraded through Epsom yesterday with bayonets fixed and colours flying.

The parade began at the Market Place, where the regiment was presented with the freedom scroll, before heading towards the High Street and on to Rosebery Park, where the regiment's Minden Band played.

Bestowed last year by Epsom and Ewell borough council, the honour is the highest the authority can grant.

The regiment has three battalions - two regular and one territorial - and members of all three battalions have served on operations in Afghanistan and Iraq.
