Buckle up...
Oxteds pram race has become a well-established tradition since it was first held in 1977. Eric Hallson had the idea for the race-come-pub-crawl, and its now a highlight of the local calendar, while raising money for charity.


Treading the boards...
The Barn Theatre, purpose-built as a local community theatre, was opened in 1924. It is largely constructed of timbers from a local 13th century saw-mill and there are regular performances there throughout the year.


Hes got minerals...
Billionaire Mohamed Al Fayed has battled alongside locals on a number of occasions against sand being excavated from a quarry near his home. There was also a well-publicised battle after a company drilled for oil under his Surrey estate.

Visit...
...one of the largest surviving historic estates in Surrey, Titsey Place can be found nearby and dates back to the mid-16th century. As well as the house and gardens there are walking trails around the estate, which also offer an opportunity to glimpse the impact of the M25.
