Olympic torch visits Egham, as thousands brave the rain to line the route

Thousands saw a slice of Olympic history unfold in Egham today as torchbearers, including former England footballer Ray Wilkins, carried the flame through the town in its first visit to our county.

Thousands braved our inclement summer to witness a slice of Olympic history unfold in Egham today, as torchbearers, including former England footballer Ray Wilkins, carried the flameon its first visit to our county.
It arrived in Egham shortly after 3.30pm, havingvisited the Queen and Prince Philip at Windsor Castle earlier in the day.
The torch relay will return to Surrey briefly on Tuesday July 17, when it will pass through Felbridge, and then again for its main run through our county on Friday July 20, which will culminate in an evening celebration at Stoke Park in Guildford.
