Northern Lights photography reaches south to Surrey

Usually only visible in the upper reaches of the world, a surge in geomagnetic activity led to the Northern Lights appearing much further south – even reaching as far as Surrey.
This shot of the aurora borealis was captured by 17-year-old Tom Chitson at Chobham Common.
