Tell us your favourite local history story...
The rhyme Goosey Goosey Gander may be based on Bishop Gardiner. He was Bishop of Winchester, and Farnham Castle was one of his main residences. He was Lord Chancellor to Mary Tudor, who stayed with him at the Castle before she was married. Bishop Gardiner officiated at Marys wedding to Philip of Spain, although he advised against it. The line in the rhyme Goosey Goosey Gander in my Ladys chamber is thought to imply that Gardiner was subject to Marys every whim.

Which is your favourite item in the collection?
A 200-year-old dolls house that was made for the Manwaring family who lived next door to the museum. Its a beautiful construction of a Georgian town house.

and the strangest?
We have a taxidermy diorama of squirrels playing cards!
