Olympic medallist Jamie Baulch goes head to head with a thoroughbred racehorse in the world's first 100m man vs horse race at Kempton Park on Wednesday June 30

Starting gates are to be replaced with starting blocks at Kempton Park racecourse as Olympic medallist Jamie Baulch goes head to head against a thoroughbred racehorse in the world's first one hundred metre man versus horse race.

The unique race will be run down the final one hundred metre straight of the Surrey racecourse on WednesdayJune 30as part of Kempton Park's Summer Series meeting.

On and off-course bookmakers currently put the sprint horse ridden by Fergus Sweeney as firm favourite with experts predicting that the horse could potentially complete the distance in under 12 seconds.

However, Baulch is confident he will be quicker off the mark and the sound of thundering hooves behind him will spur him on to victory.

A 10,000 charity prize fund is available to the winner.
