Did you know?

And all that jazz...
Home to one of the longest running jazz residencies around, the Boaters Inns music evenings began as a venture for two music students from Kingston University in 1990.

Keeping music alive
For music fans, Banquet Records on Eden Street is a must visit. While the major high street brands collapse around us, this independent store continues to thrive.

Shop til you drop...
The Bentall Centre, has a few claims to fame. An escalator in the building travels from the ground floor to the second in one stretch with only top and bottom support. The ceiling of the store reaches higher than the dome of St Pauls. Another point of interest is underneath John Lewis where an undercroft dating back to the 1300s and the remains of the original Kingston bridge are found.

Antiques roadshow
With over 100 dealers to choose from, Kingston Antiques Centre is a treasure trove where you can find anything from antique furniture to Star Wars collectables. Open daily on Old London Road, it also features a caf.

While youre there...

...the towns toppling telephone boxes on Old London Road (pictured). A must-see for any visitor, Out of Order was designed by David Mach in 1988 and has provided many a photo opportunity for tourists.

Eat at...

Drink at...
The Boaters Inn (0208 541 4672) is set in a Victorian public garden by the river.

Stay at...
The White Hart Hotel (0208 977 1786) is located by Bushy Park.

Move there for...
And get: A three-bedroom property in the exclusive private Coombe Hill estate.

Famous neighbours?
Dame Jacqueline Wilson has long been connected with the town.

Getting there...
You drive at your own risk and a train journey, or the park-and-ride, can often be quicker.
