From theatres and galleries to pubs, parks and streets, Kingston will be a riot of colour and creativity as the sixth annual International Youth Arts Festival comes to town this month.

Rapidly becoming one of the largest and most diverse youth events in the world, the festival will be attended by the Earl of Wessex who will be at the official opening gala concert, Raise the Roof, on Friday July 11.

Elsewhere, over 300 events will take place across 15 venues, including theatre, music, dance, film, visual art, comedy, circus, street performances and workshops.

“Excitement is really building as we approach our biggest festival yet,” says artistic director, Aniela Zaba. “There is a spectacular programme this year including our Royal Gala variety concert, Raise the Roof; the Ignition Dance Showcase produced by BalletBoyz; and the London International Youth Circus Festival – and that’s just the first three days!

“This year, we also have over 20 young project management trainees delivering a huge range of events, designing all of our stunning print, and managing our press team.

“The festival is a truly magical and special time – the town is simply alive and buzzing with young people from all over the world coming together to share some of the highest quality work around.”

Running from Saturday July 5 to Sunday July 27, the festival opens with six days of participatory projects, workshops and schools engagement work before the main performances begin.
