A burning issue...
Despite the huge popularity of Guy Ritchies Sherlock Holmes movie and the hit BBC mini-series, Sherlock, plans to turn author Sir Arthur Conan Doyles former Hindhead home into flats continue. While a campaign successfully got development plans overturned at the High Court, the decision is expected to be appealed.

Blue notes...
The Haslemere Society erected a blue plaque in recognition of the architect WC Marshall who designed and lived in what is now Hindhead Music Centre. For the past 36 years, it has been a centre of excellence.

A sculpted tour...
The fascinating Sculpture Park, in Churt, next to the Hindhead Commons, is set in 10 acres of arboretums. The Sculpture Park specialises in the sale of 20th century, modern and contemporary sculpture.

Going underground...
The 371m Hindhead Tunnel under the Devils Punch Bowl officially opened last year after a four-and-a-half year construction project. In total, four miles of new roads have been built as part of the project.

...the Hindhead Commons, which were one of the National Trusts first major acquisitions and now, brought together by the burying of the A3, offer even more tranquil walks.
