Another way to explore the area is to follow the Swan Barn Farm Walk, which starts from Well Lane. Along the route, youll see a National Trust orchard restoration scheme with rare or endangered varieties of apple, pear, plum, damson and cherry.

Way with words
The great Victorian poet, Lord Tennyson succeeded Wordsworth as Poet Laureate in 1850, when he was appointed by Queen Victoria. He spent the last years of his life at Aldworth House, near Haslemere.

Musically inclined
The name Dolmetsch is closely associated with the town because the famed recorder manufacturing family settled there in the 1920s and the company remains in Haslemere to this day. The familys contribution to the town is celebrated every year through the music festival.
