So, if you’re looking for something a little more unusual and want to break away from the mainstream, be sure to head to Guildford this month to show your support. You’ll also be helping yourself and the local community at the same time, with around 50p to 70p of every £1 spent in a local independent business filtering back to the local economy.

From Monday July 4 to Sunday July 31, the town’s independent stores and businesses will have a whole host of offers to tempt you through their doors – and show the July edition of Surrey Life and you’ll also receive these special discounts…

60 Quarry Street

Try before you buy at Guildford’s stylish new wine shop and bar featuring an extensive range of carefully-chosen wines from some of the world’s smaller, but perfectly formed, vineyards. Buy a bottle to take home or, for only £5 corkage, enjoy it in their popular bar.

Reader offer: Claim 10% off any bottle of wine (excluding fine wines) during July 2016.

Electric Bikes Guildford:

89 Woodbridge Road

For those who love to venture out on two wheels, but could do with just a little help getting up those hills, Electric Bikes Guildford is here. With a range of affordable new hybrid-electric bikes – pedal-assisted so they won’t do all the work for you – you can enjoy the beautiful countryside that Surrey has to offer, and still have enough breath to tell everyone about it when you get off.

Reader offer: Buy any* bike in July 2016 and receive up to £150 of free accessories (*offer excludes bikes that have been reduced in price).

Coffee Culture:

2 Angel Gate

Award-winning Coffee Culture has been keeping locals and visitors topped up with amazing coffee, iced drinks and the most tempting of cakes and savoury treats for the last 11 years. Owned and run by husband and wife team, Will and Claire Gill, their relaxed offering is a great escape from the busy big-name brands on the high street.

Reader offer: Upgrade all your drinks during July 2016 to a large size at no extra charge.

Ben’s Collectors Records:

5 Tunsgate Road

Not just a record store but more of an institution, Ben’s Collectors Records has had pride of place just off Guildford’s High Street since 1993. Catering for all styles of music, it’s the perfect hang-out for budding music fans, young and old, to track down an old tune or discover a new one.

Reader offer: Get 10% off your purchases during July 2016.
