Knowing no boundaries, Guildford Art Societys number includes everyone from royal approved chicken lovers (all will be revealed!) to Olympic inspired sculptors via those who are simply recognised nationally for their artistic talent.

And from Saturday October 16 to Saturday November 20, the society will be returning to Guildford House Gallery for its 78th Annual Exhibition.

Bringing together a selection of works from among 340 members, this exhibition promises to showcase a refreshing and diverse arrangement of thought-provoking pieces through a variety of media.

Displays will include a mix of three dimensional sculptures, wood engravings, traditional portraits and landscapes, and works in both botanical and abstract forms, while the artists will be travelling in from the likes of Woking, Farnham and Dorking, as well as Guildford.

Highlights include paintings from Celia Lewis, a watercolourist whose book, The Illustrated Guide to Chickens, has a foreword contributed by the Prince of Wales; familiar favourite Jenefer Ham, whose work is on permanent display in the Guildford House Gallery shop; and sculptor Christine Charlesworth who has created large athletic figures in bronze resin as part of a series of sport sculptures for the Lloyds Banking Groups The Art of Sport working towards the 2012 Olympics.
