Over 6,000 racegoers attended Sandown Park racecourses Gentlemens Day on Saturday November 10, with many dressed for the Skyfall celebrating James Bond theme or sporting a moustache for Movember.

Sponsored by Blue Square Bet, the event opened the start of the jumps season and saw suave and sophisticated gentlemen mingle with James Bond lookalikes, enjoy the Male Grooming Stable and sup on Martinis at the Esher course.

Movember was very much part of the day, and a Mo Bro race took place on the course where ten moustachioed racers battled up the track for a half furlong.

Meanwhile the Best Dressed Gentleman Competition saw a record number of entries and was judged by Olympic Judo Bronze medallist Karina Bryant. The winner was the very smartly dressed Paul Devvin, from South London, in a blue pin striped suit and Al Capone-styled shoes.

  • The next meeting at Sandown Park racecourse, Esher is the Tingle Creek Christmas Festival on Friday December 7 and Saturday December 8. For more information, visit www.sandown.co.uk.
