Did you know?

Go a bit potty...
Over in Wrecclesham, youll find the Farnham Pottery one of the best preserved examples of a working Victorian country pottery left in England. In its heyday, Farnham Greenware was highly sought after and could name the Queen Mother and Gertrude Jekyll among its fans.

Roaming royalty...
Over the years, many famous royals have stayed at Farnham Castle, including Mary Tudor, who stopped by on her journey to marry Prince Philip of Spain in 1554.

Brewing up...
A brewery back in the late 1800s, Farnham Maltings is now home to arts, crafts and festivals, with artists studios, galleries, caf, nursery and dance studio. The band Genesis rehearsed there in the late 1960s, too.

The great outdoors...
The biggest outdoor country life collection in the south of England, the Rural Life Centre is found near Tilford. The stunning Waverley Abbey is also just down the road, as is Bourne Woods, where Gladiator, Harry Potter, Robin Hood and many, many more have been filmed.

While youre there...

...New Ashgate Gallery, which is run as a not for profit charitable trust but in danger of having to close. Having brought the best in contemporary art and crafts to Farnham for over 50 years, it is unique within the region.

Eat at...
The family-owned Andersons Restaurant (01252 725532) on East Street serves seasonal favourites.

Drink at...
For something a little different, try The Mulberry (01252 726 673) on Station Hill, which does mouth-watering burgers.

Stay at...
The Bishops Table Hotel (01252 710222) on West Street.

Move there for...
And get: An individual four-bedroom detached house on the outskirts.

Famous neighbours?
Olympic chief Lord Coe and former F1 world champion Damon Hill live in the area.

Getting there...
Signposted from the A3, A31, M3 and A287. The station is about ten minutes walk away.
