The lighting of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons takes place around the country on Monday June 4

The lighting of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Beacons takes place around the country on Monday June 4 as part of the extended bank holiday weekend celebrations.


A total of 2,012 beaconswere originally hoped to light up the commonwealth to mark the Queen's 60 years on the throne, but the idea caught the imagination and over 4,000 beacon sites have already been announced.


Festivities begin early at many Surrey locations and continue until the beacons are lit between 10pm and 10.30pm. Beacon locations in Surrey include:

  • Westway Common, Caterham

  • St Annes Hill, Chertsey
