Highway times...
Before the 19th century, the Camberley area was referred to as Bagshot Heath, which was known as a haunt of highwaymen such as William Davies aka the Golden Farmer.


See the sites...
Head for the countryside at the nearby Lightwater Country Park, where there are two walking trails: the Heathland Trail and the shorter Nature Trail. The Heathland Trail includes an energetic walk to the top of High Curley where there are good views of the surrounding countryside. A short drive from the town, youll also find the Basingstoke Canal Visitor Centre at Mytchett, where you can hire canoes.

Camberley Theatre offers an exciting programme of arts and entertainment throughout the year. A 1,840 all-seater nine-screen Vue cinema brings further entertainment to the town.

Brewing 3,000 bottles of beer a week, the Ascot Ales microbrewery, owned by Camberley couple Chris and Suzanne Gill, has picked up awards for their five core ales and bitters, which are found in local Waitrose stores.

...the brick tower known as The Obelisk, which these days stands about 30 feet high instead of its original 100 feet. Then theres the Concrete Elephant, found on the A30, constructed entirely from concrete pipes.
