Actress and wildlife campaigner Virginia McKenna proved popular with supporters of the Princess Alice Hospice, when she was the guest speaker at their 30th annual Women of Our Time luncheon at Epsom Downs racecourse.

Four hundred ladies, including the Mayor of Elmbridge, Cllr Janet Turner, and the Mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Cllr Christine Long, joined the Born Free star to enjoy a day of shopping and lunch, and organisers hope the event will have raised over 15,000 for the charity.

The tickets for the luncheon sold out within a matter of weeks and, with another high profile guest already confirmed for next year, the Friends of Princess Alice Hospice are confident of another early sell-out for 2013.
