A delightful Advent Concert by Candlelight on 25th November is guaranteed to get everyone in the festive spirit a little earlier this year.

Organised in aid of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust in their 50th anniversary year, the concert will be held in the beautiful Holy Trinity Church – the red brick church at the top of Guildford High Street.

Holy Trinity has amazing acoustics and is a popular concert venue with seating for around 400 people.

The special guest speaker for the evening will be Roger Black, MBE. Roger, an Olympic and World Championships silver medallist, has a nephew with cystic fibrosis.

The evening will feature performances by the Surrey Youth Choir conducted by Rufus Frowde and the Royal College of Music Brass Ensemble.

They perform an eclectic mix of repertoire, both sacred and secular, ranging from early to contemporary and baroque to romantic, including major choral works of Mozart, Beethoven and Schubert. Conductor Rufus Frowde read music at Oxford University. He currently holds the post of Organist and Assistant Director of Music at the Chapel Royal, Hampton Court Palace.

Formed in December 2011 by 10 students at the Royal College of Music, Kensington Brass are a versatile brass dectet, covering repertoire of all genres, from Baroque and Renaissance to Jazz and Film music. Self-arranged, this group attempt more than the average student ensemble - to plan original and exciting programmes, exploring the versatility of brass instruments and showcasing the talents of individual players. Five of these talented musicians will perform at the concert.

Doors will open for the Advent Concert at 7pm for a 7.30pm start. Guests will be welcomed with a glass of wine (or a soft drink) and a homemade mince pie as they arrive. The refreshments are included in the ticket price, £15 for adults and £7.50 for children 12 years and under.
