Haslemere Food Festival

Building on last years success, Haslemere is holding its fifth Food Festival this month a chance for the local community to celebrate the feast of local produce on offer across the area.

Running from Saturday September 4 to Sunday September 19, the festival launches at the Aga Shop, West Street, with Sarah Whitaker tempting the public with her delicious Haslemere Chocolate Cake and continues via a beer festival, sausage competition, Italian Market and more.

I am constantly made aware of the central role played by food and
drink in helping to knit together a community, says Dominic Upton, owner of Haslemere Health Foods, which won the town chambers Fantastic Food Outlet award back in April.

A sense of community is once again proving to be our strongest asset in what have proven to be difficult and challenging times. If we can find a way, through celebration of our wonderful spread of food growers, producers and marketers, to come together and share our strengths for a fortnight, we demonstrate terrific strength and joy in adversity!
