One of Surrey's autumn highlights, Guildford Book Festival brings a whole host of top authors to Guildford. In Octobers Surrey Life magazine we speak to a few of this years writers to find out what books have caught their attention lately. Here are the featured authors and their GBF events
Having championed so many now-famous writers, Judy Finnigan will be appearing at Guildford Book Festival on Monday October 22 to talk about her own long-awaited first novel Eloise. She will be in conversation with Jane Wenham-Jones.
Following publication of her first novel Separate Lives, popular journalist Kathryn Flett will be appearing on Monday October 22 at Guildford Book Festival in Secrets and Lies with Dorothy Koomson, who presents her latest novel The Rose Petal Beach.
Comedy writer and novelist Kathy Lette will be appearing at Guildford Book Festival on Monday October 22 to introduce her latest book, The Boy Who Fell to Earth.
Kate Mosse will be talking about Citadel, the concluding part of her internationally best-selling Languedoc trilogy, at Guildford Book Festival on Friday October 26. She will be appearing alongside Simon Toyne who comes to the Festival with The Key, following success with his prequel Sanctus.
Drawing from 30 years experience at the BBC, journalist Gavin Esler will be discussing his recently published Lessons from the Top with John Miller at Guildford Book Festival on Tuesday October 23. He will be looking at how high profile individuals from Mandela and Blair to Dolly Parton and Richard Branson are masters at crafting stories.
Royal biographer Penny Junor will be appearing at Guildford Book Festival on Wednesday October 24 to introduce Born to be King, an in-depth biography of Prince William. She will be appearing with historian Kate Williams who will be talking about her latest book, Young Elizabeth: The Making of our Queen.
As well as appearing in the Festivals Schools Programme, Guildford-based author and illustrator Emma Dodd will be at the Puffin Post Birthday Party at Guildford Book Festival on Saturday October 20 to introduce her latest book Cinderelephant. She will also appear in a Draw Off with Andy Stanton on Saturday October 27.
Following the publication of Not Dead Yet in paperback, Peter James will be appearing in Crime Scene at Guildford Book Festival on Friday October 19, alongside crime writer Ann Cleeves who will be talking about her latest book, The Glass Room.
Following the recent publication of Kind of Cruel, Sophie Hannah will be appearing at Guildford Book Festival on Thursday October 25 in The Dark Side, along with critically acclaimed crime writer RJ Ellory (A Dark and Broken Heart), in conversation with Linda Regan.
