Following a week of speculation, Lewis Hamilton settled down to what he does best and won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza for his Woking-based McLaren team on Sunday.

Hamilton's future has been the subject of debate after BBC F1 chief analyst Eddie Jordan said the 27-year-old was close to signing for Mercedes next season.

From pole position, Hamilton lost the lead only briefly during the pit-stop period and was never seriously under threat, while team mate Jenson Button was forced to retire.

Hamilton's victory means he joins Alonso as the only two drivers to win three races this season.
