Are there any key trends you expect to see in 2011?
I think what has maintained stable pricing in recent years has been the balance between supply and demand. We have an area that is traditionally fairly low in supply and fairly high in demand. If I was to predict a trend for this year, it might be that we will see slightly higher supply and availability than usual.

Tell us what excites you most about the area you work in?
Being based in and working around village locations, I am fortunate enough to deal with a wide selection of varying property types. This can be challenging from a valuing point of view, but is an element of the job that I enjoy and it also means that Im never quite sure what type of property Im going to see next!

Are there bargains still to be found in Surrey?
I wish! Seriously, though, from my experience, and certainly within my main catchment area, bargains are extremely few and far between. Demand for land/refurbishments and other investment opportunities, combined with the fact that these are in such short supply, tends to lead to inflated pricing, thus bargains are difficult to find. There are ways in which you can invest time and experience in trying to find that odd elusive bargain, but unless one makes it their occupation, and there are those that do, then you are unlikely to be successful.

What is your favourite property related anecdote?
While selling a farmhouse in Chipstead a few years ago, I visited the property and was mid-way through a viewing when we were suddenly aware of the fact that we were being surrounded by three police cars, five officers and two police dogs. It turns out that a friendly dog walker thought that I was a burglar and notified the police!
