Tanya and Simon Pritchard have been in the antiques and fashion retail trade for a number of years, but it wasnt until they decided to go into business together that Something Special became a reality. Today, they gather together an eclectic mix of beautiful painted furniture from France, mirrors and lamps from the Far East, fashion from Germany and a host of accessories from the UK.
Its at this time of the year when Something Special really comes into its own. Were famous for our Christmas windows, says Tanya. This year, as always, the windows will sparkle and twinkle.
This mini-department store is actually two shops side by side. On the one side is Simons furniture domain, where youll find a variety of contemporary and wooden pieces. Next door is Tanyas fabulously feminine shop featuring shimmering chandeliers, perfume bottles, cushions and jewellery. And, right at the back, lovely fashion for what Tanya calls real women with curves.
We sell everything from reading glasses to decorative items and cushions, says Tanya, who has new stock coming in nearly every week.
The choice is endless but really affordable. Jostling for attention are beautiful silk flowers at just 3 a stem, jewellery boxes for 15 and glass candlesticks from 10. All perfect for last minute Christmas presents!
Beautiful hand-painted or natural wood wardrobes from 695, which Simon delivers free of charge. Here, too, are mirrors in all shapes and sizes, from contemporary metal-edged styles to traditional gilded designs. Also popular is an array of elegant lamps and mini to maxi over-the-top chandeliers.
At Christmas, the selection of decorations is endless, from pretty glass and mirrored baubles to crystal droplets and silver hearts, as well as a smattering of traditional gold, red and green decorations from 1 each. The whole of the shop becomes a fairy-land of twinkling lights through the festive period.
A fabulous circular mirror with a glittering frame in black and silver mosaic at 295.
