Name of store: Roche Bobois
Address: Units 4 & 5, The Heart Centre,
New Zealand Avenue, Walton-on-Thames KT12 1GH
Tel: 01932 251420

Background...

Founded in Paris over 40 years ago, Roche Bobois came to Surrey last October impressing everyone with its stunning design-led furniture. "We're offering a new way of life," says store manager David Kaim, above. He has been with the company for six years, working in Paris and London, and is passionate about the quality and design that typifies Roche Bobois.

Style...

Everything about the store is cool and chic - from the stainless steel flooring downstairs to the impacted pebbles on the first floor and the numerous room settings. On the ground floor, you'll find the Contemporary range, featuring leather, gleaming acrylic and glass. Upstairs, Les Voyages is a collection inspired by various countries that's rich in colour and texture. Finally, the Provinciales collection introduces traditional French craftsmanship with a twist. Perhaps a Louis XIV chair upholstered in a modern fabric or an elegant chest painted in dusky pink.

Shop for...

Comfortable furniture that's made to order in a variety of sizes and materials for a bespoke finish. One of the most exciting styles is Mah Jong, which is iconic at Roche Bobois having been designed 40 years ago. Today, it's still popular, covered in stunning fabrics by designers Missoni and Kenzo.

If you love butter soft leather, there are several stylish sofas from which to choose, many with stitched detailing and adjustable backrests. Or take a seat on the ergonomically designed chair, which will support your entire body. Dining tables are key pieces with bases and extension mechanisms integral to the design. And there's a variety of large coffee tables, one in shiny black acrylic topped with two swivelling white squares.

The creative wall units are well worth a look, too. I loved the Flap design with its pivoting slim doors. And to integrate the plasma screen seamlessly, there's a black lacquer wall unit with walnut panels and numerous storage options.

The beds vary in height from elegant modern designs upholstered in leather with an adjustable headrest to the more traditional wooden bedstead or curvy sleigh bed.

Favourite product...

A sleek sideboard called Speed Up that features curved detailing on the door fronts, which gives it an aerodynamic look. To open, just press a door panel and it slides open effortless. It's available in white or black Daquacryl, which is a special ultra-shiny acrylic.

Worth a visit...

Because all the furniture is so exciting and totally aspirational, and the lamps, cushions and decorative accessories are all irresistible!
