Founded by dynamic duo Owen and Emma Mackrell (pictured above), Mac & Mac was established three years ago as an online furniture store. It was so successful that they soon opened a small retail outlet in Hampshire and then last year moved to their much larger premises in the centre of Farnham.
The store offers us the opportunity to showcase a stunning selection of Italian and European furniture, says Owen. In addition, its an ideal location for us because its close to London and also our home locally.
Everything about this store, which actually comprises five large areas, screams modernity from the tinted glass windows to the gleaming white walls and wooden flooring.
The furniture is arranged in a variety of room settings, each defined by an amazing rug, or in dedicated areas by brand name.
The sofas, in predominantly white or cream leather, are low and luxurious; the dining tables, proudly displaying their clever extending mechanisms, are in glass or acrylic; and the beds are large and comfortable with oversized headboards. There are also specialist areas for tableware, vases and rugs.
Statement pieces include an intriguing white glass oval dining table, which doubles in size as two crescent-shaped extensions swivel out from beneath the tabletop. Then theres probably the most comfortable dining chair ever, with its perfectly shaped back in leather and chrome. And dont miss the extensive selection of lighting, too.
For the living room, look out for the popular Vita sofa with its clean straight lines and button detailing in a choice of 101 shades of soft leather. Complement this with the extra large, pale oak coffee table featuring concealed drawers and a clever arrangement of shelving in glossy black.
For the bedroom, choose from a variety of low beds all with upholstered bases and matching headboards, together with chests of drawers and bedside tables in wood, glossy acrylic or mirrored finishes.
An indulgent, very high-backed easy chair, upholstered in cream leather appliqud with LOVE lettering and lined in black fabric.
