With the likes of Michelin star chef Steve Drake and the UK’s oldest cookery school Tante Marie on the doorstep, Woking has decided it’s time to celebrate its culinary roots this summer.
From Friday September 13 to Sunday September 15, the town centre will become a foodies dream as great chefs and producers help to celebrate the first Woking Food and Drink Festival.
Held in the newly refurbished Jubilee Square, the festival will feature up to 50 local and regional food and drink stalls.
Taking centre stage will be the Tante Marie Culinary Theatre, a purpose-built, professional cookery demonstration stage featuring live gourmet demos delivered by top chefs and restaurant owners.
Among those showcasing their skills will be Great British Bake Off winner Jo Wheatley, MasterChef winner Natalie Coleman, Michelin star chef Steve Drake of Drake’s in Ripley, Ben Piette from London House in Old Woking, Fernando Stovell from Stovell’s in Chobham, Shane Cooke from the newly opened Fox Dining in Worplesdon and, of course, Tante Marie Culinary Academy, which is co-owned by Gordon Ramsay.
With the best of the area’s diverse food producers and eateries on offer as well as specialist food producers from across the region, visitors will be able to tuck in to tasty treats throughout the weekend.
