Can you tell the difference between English and French mould ripened cheeses? How does it change as it ages? What should you include in the perfect cheeseboard and should it change with the seasons?

Can you tell the difference between English and French mould ripened cheeses? How does it change as it ages? What should you include in the perfect cheeseboard and should it change with the seasons?

These and a whole host of other questions will be answered at one of Teddington Cheeses newCheese Masterclasses at their store on Hill Rise, Richmond.

These informal, two hour gatherings will be held on the third Thursday of each month, with places limited to ten people and starting at 7.30pm.

Attendees are offered selected wines to accompany the cheese tastings, including a red, white and a sweet dessert wine, so that they can learn the best pairings.

In the past we have only held these masterclasses for private or corporate clients by prior arrangement, says Tony Chuck, owner of Teddington Cheese. But word has now spread and we have been persuaded to hold them monthly.

The price of a Cheese Masterclass is 35, which includes tastes of the cheeses and the selected wines to accompany. In addition, guests are offered a 10% discount on any purchases they make that evening.
